Why only a small shrink possible in Vista?
Maybe a low format will fix it:-( A quick format should have done the trick (according to available Vista documentation). Since it didn't, deleting the HDD partition, then re-partioning it before formatting will wipe out Vista's boot files. I've tried re-partition the disk, but it doesn't make any difference.

OT: Concerning Windows Vista
I decided to repartition the drive so there would be the option of installing other OSes in the future only to find that cfdisk (Linux partioning tool) complained about a partion not ending on a cylinder boundry (or something like that). I ended up installing Fedora right were Vista went next.
